MINING FOR FOOD
Vancouver’s mining community is known for giving back. In 2013, the community reached out to Five Hole for Food (FHFF) looking for a way to contribute to the initiative. The result was Mining for Food (MFF), a street hockey tournament that runs in conjunction with FHFF’s annual Vancouver event.
Since its inception, Mining for Food has raised the equivalent of 31,000 pounds of food for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and they aren’t slowing down. For 2015, Mining for Food is aiming to collect 20,000 pounds of food, to add to its already impressive total.
Mining for Food 2015 will take place from noon to 6pm on Saturday, July 18th on the 700 and 800 block of Granville. This year features an expanded tournament of eight teams.
