Edmonton (July 6, 2010)

Edmonton was game seven of the best-of-nine series and Team White came into the game with their backs against the wall. Down 4-2 in the series to Vic’s Team Red, Richard needed to rally the boys to a big victory and the scene of the crime was Deer Ridge Park in St. Albert. After a pep talk to kick things off Team White took off and never looked back. Even after Team Red acquired a late player in St. Albert council candidate James Van Damme, Team White backed by the power of some of the local kids, stepped up and shut down.

After a hard game and lot of fun we also ended up helping out the St. Albert Food Bank. With the food raised for the St. Albert Food Bank we raised our trip’s total to 1959 pounds of food raised putting us ever so close to the goal we set out on this trip of 2000 lbs. The best part is we’re not just going to beat our goal we’re going to smash it. That’s the power of positive thinking right? We were super excited to have the Edmonton Oil Kings come out and support the game and with Louie the Lion pumping up the crowd we even convinced the Red Bull girls to join in our game!

By the Numbers

2 – Cities left on the tour. Victoria, Vancouver
3 – Broken sticks on the trip. Richard lost Zetterberg and in yesterday’s game Vic lost Sutter. We had a player lose a stick in Edmonton as well.

5 – Provinces played in. Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta
8 – Points for Vic in a game that saw Team White stay alive for another game, in the series. Vic had 2 goals and notch 6 assists. Team White is now down 4-3 in the series.

12 – Team Pitchers of Molson Canadian downed at our post games at Boston Pizza
25 - Ooga Chakas.

57 – Hours of driving since the trip started in Montreal.
60 – Pounds of food raised by Edmonton for the St. Albert Food Bank.

1959 – Pounds of food raised since we started in Montreal.
5912 – Kilometers driven from the start of the trip.

Edmonton came out to support the St. Albert Food Bank and we had some kids come out that proved to be real superstars. It was another great game and it was so rewarding to see kids and adults alike playing together. Next up, Victoria!

Take a look at some of the footage from our Edmonton game in which Team White took the early lead and never looked back despite a late surge from Team Red. For those who couldn’t make it out to our Edmonton game we hope you enjoy this and for those in Victoria or Vancouver, get ready because we’re coming to town to play hockey!
