As an annual event, there’s no doubt that Five Hole for Food wants to raise more food year-over-year but also inspire more Canadians to pick up their sticks and get excited about investing in their communities. Hitting 13 cities in 19 days, the tour wanted to go big. 40,000 pounds of food was nice, but the team wanted to make a big splash and set out on a mission to raise 100,000 pounds of food while playing days worth of hockey. After 19 days of driving, over 11,000 kilometers on the odometer and 13 games completed, the tour raised over 133,000 pounds of food with Calgary temporarily setting a single city record of over 27,000 lbs of food raised, and Vancouver raising 43,000 lbs of food – the equivalent of the entire 2011 tour.
